Bites of Heaven Puerto Escondido

Bites of Heaven Puerto Escondido. A Food Tour in Puerto Escondido? Yes! Please! All the seafood and traditional food from Oaxaca converge in this beautiful coastal destination. After working for more than 6 years in food tours and teaching cooking classes, I moved to the coast, and now I’ve been preparing a route to entertain the palates of those who want to learn more about the food here at the coast. Not only will we roam around and try delicious dishes, but we are also going to talk about their origins and the influence from other parts of the state of Oaxaca.

Here in Puerto the seafood is part of the culture. Wherever you go, you can find options, whether you visit the markets or restaurants. Also, we are still in Oaxaca, and traditional food from other regions, like the Central Valleys, is also present here. I’ll be sharing with you my favorite spots to eat in Puerto Escondido centro (downtown), including the market.

This tour is not vegan or vegetarian itself, but if you are. We can program a slightly shorter tour for you. The plant-based options do exist, but they are limited. We keep exploring every day so we can launch a full tour with those characteristics that meet our quality standards. Stay tuned for that.

We are going to explore the food options from the market and eateries in the main downtown area of Puerto Escondido. Accompanied by a good cultural, social, and historical approach to learn more about this beautiful coastal town in the south of Oaxaca. Honest discussions about Oaxaca and the territory are important and needed. Two big events changed Puerto Escondido as a destination: The pandemic in 2019 was the first, and secondly, the opening of the highway that connects the coast with Oaxaca City. We’re also going to learn about the local dynamics and the influence of the external ones.

All of this while we enjoy some delicious snacks, seafood, tlayudas, drinks, and desserts. I’ve always said that building bridges and friendships is easier and better while we share meals. I’m looking forward to eating together.
